This is a still from an animation I am submitting to various companies for use on television or the web. Thirty, fifteen and ten second versions were created in Flash with backgrounds and elements made in Photoshop and Bryce. I'd love to offer a Quicktime sample but it is currently being submitted to the companies whose logos were used. Hopefully you'll be seeing it on television soon.
The project originated when reviewing video clips that I was to rotoscope for a cartoon involving a girl who loses her hat in the wind and pursues it for a good deal of time. When filming the clips, my rotoscope model, Carol Epstein, a professional dancer and teacher at U.C. Santa Cruz, performed a short dance which inspired me to create the advertisement. Her stylish gestures and movements were an ideal study on which to pattern an animation.
The sound track was recorded by Peter Rubbo at R. Productions in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. It features the Indian Tabla drum played by Leonice Shinneman. Peter Rubbo plays drum kit. Catherine Guard performs the vocals and I am play the bass.
