My folks continually fed me with a lot of culture and knowhow.
I learned to silkscreen from my mother
Gretchen, a fine artist.
My father David, a musician introduced me to a lot of color and design examples of
of all kinds. So, apart from my own crazy world, my parents helped
with a lot of good stimulus and encouragement early on. For the longest
time I hand cut laquer stencils by hand as opposed to
creating a positive from an image and exposing it to a screen coated
with photo sensitive emulsion. something about having to work within
the limits of a hard edges with no midtones is a challenge I like to work
around.
After college I worked for a few screenprinters then struck out on my own with a business called Zygoat Productions. I had a street artist stand in Berkeley and did commission work of all kinds. I went back to school in 1998 and learned graphics applications and web programming. Best of all I finally learned something I really could have used in the past, Photoshop. I got by without it but I'm really putting it to use in a big way. It's really opened up a lot of horizons and is rarely absent from any endeavor. Please have a look at some samples of my work throughout the years. From there you can follow the arrows to the other blowups or link back to the menus. font> |
